Salem is a city on the north coast of Massachusetts, located north of Boston. He owes his fame to the witch trials of 1692, during which several neighbors were executed for their alleged witchcraft practices. One of the places related to this historical episode is the Witch House, former residence of one of the judges. The Peabody Essex Museum hosts a wide collection of works of art and objects from around the world, such as a Chinese house from the reconstructed Qing dynasty.
